About This PDF Merger
A PDF merger combines multiple PDF files into a single, perfectly ordered document. This is especially useful when you have separate files — reports, invoices, contracts, or scanned pages — that need to be organised into one unified file for sharing, printing, or archiving. Unlike emailing multiple attachments, a single merged PDF is easier to manage, submit, and read.
Need to do the reverse, or reduce the size of your merged output? You can split a large PDF into separate files using our PDF Splitter, or compress the merged PDF with our PDF Compressor.
🔒 Your privacy is guaranteed. Unlike Adobe Acrobat Online, Smallpdf, and iLovePDF, this PDF merger never uploads your files to a remote server. All processing happens locally in your browser using pdf-lib — your documents remain completely private and are never stored or seen by anyone else.
Who Should Use This PDF Merger?
How to Use Page Ranges When Merging PDFs
Each file card in the merger has a Page Range input. This lets you include only specific pages from that PDF rather than the whole document — useful when you only need the first few pages of a report, or want to skip cover pages, blank pages, or appendices.
Include pages 1 through 5. Perfect for extracting the main body of a document and leaving out the appendix.
Include only pages 1, 3, and 7. Useful when you need specific non-consecutive pages like a cover, summary, and signature page.
Combine ranges and individual pages. Include pages 1–3, then page 7, then pages 10–12 — all in that order.
When to Use Page Ranges, Strip Metadata & Reverse Page Order
The Output Options panel gives you four settings that affect the final merged PDF. Here is exactly when each one is useful:

Common PDF Merging Problems & Fixes
🔒 PDF says it is password-protected
Remove the password from the PDF before adding it to the merger. On Mac, open the PDF in Preview, enter the password, then export it without a password. On Windows, open in Chrome browser and print to PDF — this strips the password from most PDFs.
📄 Merged PDF pages are in the wrong order
The file order in the list determines page order in the output. Drag the handle (⋮⋮) on the left of each card to rearrange files before clicking Merge. Also check whether the Reverse Pages option is accidentally enabled in Output Options.
📦 Need to merge more than 20 files
Merge the first 20 files into one combined PDF, then add that combined PDF along with your remaining files in a second merge operation. Each pass can handle up to 20 files, so two passes covers 39 source files.
📊 Merged file is unexpectedly large
The merger copies pages without re-compression, so the output size is approximately the sum of the source files. To reduce the merged file size, run it through our PDF Compressor after downloading — use Smart Compress at Medium level to avoid any quality loss.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Yes. All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript and the pdf-lib library. Your PDF files are never sent to any external server — your data stays completely private throughout the entire process.
- You can merge up to 20 PDF files in a single operation — completely free, no registration, no sign up required. If you have more than 20 files, merge the first batch and then use the merged output as one of the inputs in a second pass.
- Yes. Each file card has a Page Range input. Enter ranges like 1-3, individual pages like 1,5,8, or combinations like 1-3,7,10-12. Leave blank to include all pages from that PDF.
- Not at all. The tool copies pages at the binary PDF level without re-rendering or re-compressing any content. Images stay at their original DPI, fonts stay intact, and all vector graphics are preserved perfectly — output quality is identical to the source documents.
- Open this page in Safari or Chrome on your phone, tap Browse & Add PDF Files, select your PDFs, arrange them, and tap Merge PDFs Now. Works entirely in your mobile browser — no app download required.
- If your PDF requires a password to open, you will need to unlock it first. On Mac, open in Preview with the password and export without one. On Windows, open in Chrome and print to PDF to remove the password. The tool will display a message if it encounters a file it cannot process.
- Open this page in Safari or Chrome on your Mac and upload your PDFs — no downloads, no installs, no Adobe Acrobat needed. All merging happens inside your browser. This works on all Mac models including MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini.
- The merger copies pages without re-compressing them, so the output size is roughly the sum of all input files. To reduce the merged PDF size, download it and run it through our PDF Compressor using Smart Compress at Medium level — this can significantly reduce the file size while preserving visual quality.
- PDFs with owner-level restrictions (which prevent editing or copying but do not require a password to open) can usually be merged without issue. PDFs that require a password to open must be unlocked first. The tool will indicate if a specific file cannot be processed.
